Practical Courses
Prestige Boat Academy offers a variety of practical courses to improve your boat handling skills.
Our courses are RYA accredited and ensure you have the skills and qualifications to operate a boat in a safe and enjoyable way.
Qualifications are also required to operate a boat in several European and International countries.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Practical
This course is for those using open powered craft such as RIBs and sports boats or those new to powerboating. It provides the basic skills and knowledge for the powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.
RYA Day Skipper Practical
This course is designed to train skippers of vessels between 25-60ft in the basics of seamanship. Running over 4 days, you will focus on pilotage, navigation, boat handling and seamanship as well as modern electronic aids such as GPS and radar.
RYA Coastal Skipper Practical
This course teaches the skills and techniques required to skipper a motor cruiser of at least 7m LOA safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night. It aims to improve the skills to make full use of the boat on complex passages.
Helmsman Practical
This two-day course covers basic boat handling, helmsmanship, safety and basic engine maintenance.
