RYA First Aid Course
What the course delivers
This course delivers the essential first aid skills that are needed to ensure injuries can be addressed and managed.
Designed for anyone venturing on the water—whether on inland lakes, rivers, estuaries, or cross-channel passages—this MCA-approved course meets the first aid requirements for Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore certificates, as well as commercial maritime roles.
Course Features
This is an RYA interactive course that takes around 6-10 hours of study. Students then complete a pre-knowledge check before a 2 hours in the classroom for a practical assessment using live radio and the final exam.
This course is specifically tailored considering boating safety.
Materials included and used:
- RYA First Aid Handbook
- Manakin (1 per 2 students)
- AED trainier (1 per 2 students)
- Pocket face masks ( 1 per student)
- Tea/coffee & Water
Course Syllabus
This essential course provides the student with first aid knowledge of:
- Risks and Safety on the water
- Mechanisms of injury
- CPR
- Recovery Position
- Bleeding and blood loss
- Sprains and breaks
- Shock
- Electrical injury
- Head injury
- Unconscious casualties
- Dressings and bandages
- Cold shock and hypothermia
- First Aid Equipment
