The RYA First Aid Certificate is essential training for anyone spending time on the water. Whether you are a recreational skipper, a professional crew member, or a water sports instructor, knowing how to respond effectively to a medical emergency can make the difference when help is far away.
The course begins with online pre-study modules that you complete in your own time, covering the theoretical foundations of first aid. The classroom day then focuses on hands-on practice with manikins, AED trainers, and realistic maritime scenarios so that the skills become instinctive.
Online modules covering anatomy, physiology, and first aid theory. Complete at your own pace before the classroom day.
Practical CPR on manikins, AED defibrillator practice, wound care, and bleeding control techniques.
Scenario-based exercises covering cold shock, hypothermia, fractures, and maritime-specific emergencies.
Practical assessment and written paper. RYA First Aid certificate awarded on successful completion.
No Prerequisites Required
This course is open to everyone. No prior first aid or boating experience is needed.
